Abstract: In this article, salen-type ligand was synthesized by 3, 5-di-tert-butyl salicylaldehyde and ethylenediamine, then salen-type nickel complexes was prepared with the ligand and nickel acetate. Then the ligand and complexs were characteristiced by IR, UV and DSC. The catalytic performance in propylene oligomerization was in propylene for two salen-typed: 3, 5-di-tert-butyl salicylaldehyde ethylenediamine nickel andfor salicylaldehyde ethylenediamine. Propylene oligomerization products were analyzed by gas chromatography .The properties of complexes/triphenylphosphine solution system were investigated by UV method, and then the possible formation mechanism of catalytic active site was deduced.
