Abstract
Frequency measurement is one of main the testing object for electronic technology. It closely linked to modern communication and broadcasting technology, whose frequency brand have severe limit and the setting of frequency also has corresponding requirement, otherwise it will cause mutual interference. Therefore it speeds up the development of frequency technology. There are many methods to measure frequency and using electronic counter to measure frequency is one of the key methods to measure frequency, which has following advantages: use conveniently, measure rapidly and easy to realize process automation. The text introduces one design method of simple digital frequency meter, which bases on the MCS-51 single chip and adopts modular layout. It uses C language to design software, which is simple and easy to understand. In order to increase the precision of frequency meter, it adopts the combination of frequency measurement and cycle measurement. The main functions of the frequency meter are frequency measurement and cycle measurement. The whole design can divide into three parts: design principle, hardware design and software design. The text has particularly introduced the hardware design and software design of the frequency meter.
