RESEARCHING OF TQM APPLICATION IN NINGBO ORIENT GROUP
ABSTRACT
This paper seeks to explore the new mechanism of employing the theory of Total Quality Management (TQM) into the practice of corporate quality control. It does this by examining a real life case of implementation of a quality control mechanism by a wire & cable manufacturer, Ningbo Orient Group(NBOG). In recent years, It focuses on analyzing the theory and content of TQM, it then discusses the application of TQM in NBOG based on the company’s experience in quality management.
The concept of TQM is to apply quality control throughout the whole process of a firm’s operations, from product design, manufacturing, market development, sales, to the end user service. Successful implementation of TQM in a company calls for complete involvement from all employee within the organization. All corporate activities should be targeted at maximizing the customer satisfaction index. By doing this, a firm can continuously reduce its quality cost and enhance its ability to compete in the market.
Technically, TQM needs a functional set of management information systems installed. When constructing corporate CS, ERP, a firm should use ISO9000 as an operation platform to carry out TQM and focus on improving its management efficiency to serve its quest for new areas of development.
Today, to a large extent, market competition is actually the competition for better product and service quality. NBOG, the large-scale domestic wire & cable enterprise, is also under the increasing pressure from its competitors. Through implementation of TQM strategy, it seeks to gradually lower its cost on production and management, further satisfying customer needs, increasing its operation efficiency, and finally, realizing its goals for the new century.
