The steering gear, as the decelerating device of the steering system, is a mechanism that change the steering wheel’s turning from a driver into the steering rocker arm’s swing ( or the rack’s axial displacement). That whether the steering gear is good or not will have a direct effect on the driving and handling performance of the auto, and also have an important part in the auto’s reliability and durability.
In this design, the first thing is to known about the company’s old steering gear and other relative ones, and then go to 4S shop to discuss the problem of that kind appeared in using and servicing , with the servicing men and drivers, after that, try to solve the problem existed in the design process according to the parameter offered.
At first, this thesis introduces the development and background of the auto steering gear, secondly, show the steering’s component , type and the design requirement, thirdly, mainly state the character and working principle of the gear and rack, and then, analyse and calculate the PXOL gear and rack steering gear, at last, give a illumination on other design requirement and improvement of the PXOL steering gear’s configuration .
