Investigation of photovoltaic performance based on low energy bandgap polymers
Abstract: With the global energy demand has increased, the effective utilization of renewable energy become urgent. One alternative is to research and develop solar energy materials which can produce electric energy. More and more attention has been made by all over the world scientist. Polymer photovoltaic materials bear a lot of advantages, such as, easy preparation and purification, with flexibility, lightweight, easy to fabricate large area solar cells, easily chemical modification and can show a high open-circuit voltage (can be greater than 2V), etc. The application of Bandgap controlling engineering , researching new low bandgap polymers as donor, choosing a different band gap of polymer blends to meet with the solar spectrum perfect match, consequently enhance optical absorption and optical efficiency of enrichment has become a hotspot research area. In this dissertation, two kinds of polythiophene-methine low bandgap polymers were synthesized, and their photovoltaic performance based on PCBM and MEH-PPV as active layer were discussed.
