Abstract: According to the materials used, the nowadays solar cells can be divided into two types. One is inorganic semiconductor solar cells, the other is organic / polymer semiconductor solar cells. Although the commercialization of solar cells is mainly based on inorganic solar cells, it is still limited to expand its application due to their high cost, non-degradable toxicity and non-flexible fabrication properties. Therefore, the development of organic / polymer solar cells is very necessary. The advantages of organic/polymer photovoltaic devices are flexibility, lightweight and easy fabrication. With its simple technology and low cost, polymer solar cells also demonstrated the advantages that it can provide a high open-circuit voltage (voltage can be more than 2V) and can be put into mass production. Polyphenylene vinylene derivatives can be used as donors for polymer solar cells. This paper is about the investigation of its photovoltaic performance.
