Abstract
Our country's educational technology, which came from Euro-American audio-visual education, produces electrical education. Filmstrip was first applied to teaching field in 1911 in China. People's understanding towards the importance of multimedia technology has got further improved with the development of medium and its increasing influence on teaching. Multimedia gradually applies to education, But there exists many problems in the process of applying multimedia to the teaching field. With the questionnaire, investigation, classroom observation and interview methods, I will objectively discuss the forms and importance of multimedia technology which can full play the role of teacher and reach the needs of New Course Standard. The problem of applying multimedia in high school English teaching will also be further mentioned. Last I will summary the certainty, possibility of using multimedia in teaching English
