Studies on the Extraction and Oxidation of Poria cocos Polysaccharides
Abstract: Alkali-soluble parchymaran was extracted by using dilute alkali (0.5mol/l NaOH) solution as a solvent with the assistance of ultrasonic and the extraction condition was examined. 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-1-piperidine oxoammonium ion (TEMPO)-mediated oxidation was applied to parchymaran. and the physicochemical properties of the resulting derivatives were investigated by using FT-IR and bile acid binding activity. The oxidized derivative showed lower bile acid binding activity than native glucan , it could be explained by the stronger interaction of carboxyl groups and bile acid .
