Report on the Translation of the Real Diana
Abstract: This translation report aims to elaborate on the translation techniques employed in translating The Real Diana. It states the problems I come across and expounds how I solve these problems. This research project consists of two types of literature review. First, I review background information about the British monarch, Tina Brown and Diana’s life. Then, I draw on findings in current translation studies to pinpoint the challenges I confront in the translation process and the strategies I employ. Much controversy has arisen, surrounding the choice of divergent translation approaches, named “foreignizing approach” and “domesticating approach” by Venuti 2004(1995). Fully aware of the debate, I combine the two approaches in my translation practice and examine gains and losses of the combined approach in my report.
